(economics), 1954; Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science, 1958. Served in U.S. Army (combat infantry medic). Funeral director. President, John J. Hafer Funeral Homes. Member, Maryland Farm Bureau; Allegany County Farm Bureau; Cumberland Chamber of Commerce. Member, Mason Lodge, Scottish Rite 32nd degree, Tall Cedar of Lebanon (past grand tall cedar), Ali Ghan Shrine Temple (past potentate), Cumberland. Married; four children, five grandchildren, four great granchildren. Died in Frostburg, Maryland, June 5, 2019.
