In June 2008, the Task Force to Study Thoroughbred Horse Racing at Rosecroft Raceway was authorized (Chapter 326, Acts of 2008). The Task Force was to consider whether thoroughbred horse racing at Rosecroft Raceway is feasible; and how such racing would affect the local community as well as the horse racing industry in Maryland. Further, the Task Force was to determine whether any State funding would be available to facilitate such horse racing, and was to make recommendations about the future of Rosecroft Raceway.

Authorization for the Task Force expired December 31, 2008.
