In June 2016, the Task Force to Investigate the Challenges of and Opportunities for Minorities in Business was created (Chapter 480, Acts of 2016).
The Task Force was to investigate discriminatory practices against minority- and women-owned businesses, including such discrimination against franchisees by franchisors. Further, issues concerned with access to working capital by small, minority and women-owned businesses were reviewed and examined by the Task Force. These issues included working capital needs; availability of working capital and barriers to it; and what State resources are available to such businesses. Finally, the Task Force examined and assessed incentives for business entities that employ ex-felons.
Authorization for the Task Force ended June 30, 2018.
