Report to Governor & General Assembly due Dec. 31, 2021 (Chapter 14, Acts of 2018; Chapter 20, Acts of 2020; Chapter 698, Acts of 2021).

In June 2018, the Work Group on the Assessment and Funding of School Facilities was established by the General Assembly (Chapter 14, Acts of 2018; Chapter 20, Acts of 2020; Chapter 698, Acts of 2021).

Following the adoption by the Interagency Commission on School Construction of educational facilities sufficiency standards and a facility condition index for Maryland public schools, an initial statewide facilities assessment using the sufficiency standards was to be completed by July 1, 2019.

For school construction funding decisions, the Work Group determines how to prioritize the relative condition of public school facilities based on the sufficiency standards and condition index, as well as local priorities. Further, the Work Group considers whether the State should provide funding incentives to local jurisdictions that reduce the total ownership cost of public school facilities.
