Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Attended Allegany High School; Frostburg State College, B.S., 1954, M.Ed. 1962. Served in U.S. Army, 1954-56. Former teacher, coach, and administrator. Treasurer, Board of Governors, Philadelphia Unit, Shriners Hospitals for Children, 1999-2007. 1st Vice-President, Maryland Association of Counties, 2010 (board of directors, 2007; treasurer, 2008; secretary, 2009; legislative committee). Member, Queen City Lodge no. 131, Affiliated Free and Ancient Masons; Tall Cedars of Lebanon; Cumberland Consistory; Scottish Rites Bodies; Ali Ghan Shrine Center (past potentate); Fort Cumberland Post #13, American Legion. Associate member, Fraternal Order of Police #40. Past president, Maryland Association of Secondary School Principals; Cumberland Jaycees; Cumberland Rotary Club. Past chair, LaVale Civic Improvement Association. Principal of the Year, Maryland Association of Secondary School Principals, 1985. Allegany High School Sports Hall of Fame, 2005; Allegany High School Hall of Fame, 2007. Married; four children, eight grandchildren.
