BOARD OF ELECTRICAL EXAMINERS

The Board of Electrical Examiners licenses electricians, and processes all electrical license applications, and fees as required by the Board of County Commissioners. License exams are administered quarterly (January, April, July, & October). Moreover, the Board hears grievances related to electrical licenses, electrical work, and may act as an arbiter between contractors and homeowners.

In Kent County, homeowners must apply for a Homeowner’s permit and pass the related exam prior to performing electrical work in their own home.

Appointed by the Board of County Commissioners to three-year terms, the Board consists of three members (County Code, secs. 192-32 through 192-46).


BOARD OF LICENSE COMMISSIONERS

The Board of License Commissioners regulates the retail sale of alcoholic beverages in Kent County (Code Alcoholic Beverages Article, secs. 24-101 through 24-2803).

In Kent County, the Board of County Commissioners, ex officio, serves as the Board of License Commissioners (Code Alcoholic Beverages Article, secs. 24-101 through 24-206).
