DEPARTMENT OF RECREATION

The Department of Recreation is responsible for the organization and conduct of County recreation programs, and the development, operation, and maintenance of County recreational facilities (Code Local Government Article, secs. 1-601 through 1-611; County Code, secs. 41-1 through 41-30; County Regulations 41.00.01 through 41.00.04)

SENIOR CENTERS
Seven Senior Centers are run by the Department of Recreation. They provide a variety of programs, including dance and exercise classes, computer training, mid-day meals, educational seminars, entertainment and social events, health and wellness programs, travel, and sports. Senior Centers are located in Damascus; Rockville (North Potomac Center); Silver Spring (Holiday Park Center, Long Branch Center, Margaret Schweinhaut Center, & White Oak Center); and Wheaton.

Under the Department of Recreation, Active Adults Programs are offered for those age 55 and older. Community and Recreation Centers provide these programs in Brookeville, Burtonsville, Cabin John, Chevy Chase, Clarksburg, Germantown, Potomac, Sandy Spring, Silver Spring, and Rockville.
