In Queen Anne's County, the legislative and executive branches of County government are administered by the Board of County Commissioners.
The Board of County Commissioners consists of five members who are elected to four-year terms by the voters. One of these members is elected by the voters to serve additionally as Council President for a one-year term. Thereafter, until the next election, the Council President is chosen annually by the Council as is the Vice-President (Code Local Government Article, secs. 9-401 through 9-406).
